Last week I had the privilege of attending an exhibition by Instagram focusing on 24 inspiring women and their instagram stories. It was held in the heart of London and called #mystoryuk. It was the first one of it's kind in Europe and featured a whole range of women including a skateboarder, a political activist and even a shepherdess!
Every one of the images were as diverse as they were inspiring but the ones that stood out to me the most were the three awesome Instamums that are very dear to my heart.
First up is the rad inked up mama, Carrie Anne Roberts of Mre. Soeur who chronicles her life as a single mum and entrepreneur. Her powerful image of her son breastfeeding is one that resonates with young mothers all over the world. Carrie's positive and supporting attitude towards mums is an important and strong message to put across and we love her for it.
Selfish Mother founder, Molly Gunn and her gorgeous son is also featured in the exhibition. The image is of Molly wearing one of her 'Since' sweatshirts that raises money for STARLIGHT, a charity that grants wishes for seriously and terminally ill children. All profits from the Selfish Mother range of sweats and tees go to various different charities and so far over £140,000 has been donated. Wow!
Thirdly, the gorgeous Zoe AKA Dress like a Mum is featured in a fabulous red catsuit holding her daughter dressed as a superhero! Zoe is smashing down the bad rep of dressing like a mum and showing the world us mums are sassy, stylish and downright bad-ass!
It was an amazing exhibition showing how Instagram has paved the way for everyday women like you and me to showcase their passions, their loves, their ideals and their incredible lives to the world. It has created a platform in which we can connect with like-minded individuals from all over the globe and become 'virtual' friends with people from different backgrounds, cultures and religions.
Thanks Instagram, we love you!
